Ashburton Community Care needs you

We provide full training and support, the coordinator is always on hand to help with any difficulties which might arise. Additional learning sessions for volunteers who would like to know more are offered on an occasional basis. Sessions so far have included Dementia awareness, Working with Visually Impaired Clients, Working with Hearing Impaired Clients, Mental Health Awareness, Bereavement Care, Health Awareness, The Impact of Stroke and Knowing your Boundaries. The sessions are informative, hands-on and a great opportunity to meet your fellow volunteers.  They are always accompanied by cake!  We also hold purely social events for volunteers.

Your expenses: we can pay necessary expenses such as mileage from your home to the client’s house and back, at a rate of 45p/mile, provided you live within our catchment area of Ashburton.

Safeguarding: you will be required to undergo a DBS check (the new name for the Criminal Record Bureau check) and to provide two references.

Application process: please contact us below to ask for an application form.  The coordinator will arrange to visit and take you through the application process.  References will then be taken up, and a DBS check carried out.  Specific training on befriending is then provided for all new volunteers – this enables you to start work with confidence.
